On Monday, October 21st Buckeye Trail Elementary school hosted a Safety Fair in conjunction with its Red Ribbon week for October 17th-21st. The fair involved six local organizations which included: Old Washington VFD, Quaker City VFD, Antrim VFD, United Ambulance, Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Students had the opportunity to stop by each group stationed in the gym and see demonstrations, talk to law enforcement personnel, and ask questions. Following the safety fair students proceeded to the football field to form a Red Ribbon. After the picture was taken everybody sat in the bleachers to watch a life flight helicopter from Air Evac land on the field. After the landing, each class had the opportunity to pass through the chopper. The student body then proceeded to pass through each law enforcement vehicle on the way back to the building. Red Ribbon week features a theme each day in conjunction with staying drug free. The students also participated in a slogan contest as well as a door decorating contest.

In October, East Guernsey will start to feature the “Munchables” options. Please see Munchables image for more details.  On October 11-13, East Guernsey will have the “Lunch for Life.”  We offer free lunch to the kindergarten class for those three days to let them try school lunches and hopefully create a lunch customer for life! The only updates or improvements that I have seen a need for is our high school dishwasher, which you already know about.
